Shimeji mushrooms, a group of edible mushooms from Japan, can be found around eastern Asia as a specialty mushroom. A cooked shimeji mushroom has a pleasant, firm, slightly crunchy texture and a slightly nutty flavor. I usually goes well with stir-fried foods and even sometimes seafood. Shimeji mushrooms are usually used in soups, stews and with pastas.
